mid to late april in the midwest is morel mushroom season. once you’ve seen one, they’re hard to mistake. if you’re out walking keep your eyes open and you’ll find them growing out of the leaf liter around fallen trees and branches. they are by far the best mushroom, and even if you don’t like mushrooms, they go for ~$20 / lb.
